THIS WEEK IN DIGITAL LEARNING

Digital Summer Reading

A few months ago, I wrote about ways to access ebooks and audiobooks from your school or town library. As we move closer to the end of the school year, I wanted to bring it up again and highlight some great summer reading opportunities for you and your students!

As a reminder, Sora is a website and app specifically for school libraries to lend out ebooks and audiobooks digitally. Download the Sora app or go to soraapp.com and search for New Hampshire Schools Shared Digital Collection. Then select your school and login with your Google account!

Normally, Sora works just like a library - someone borrows a title and it is unavailable for others until it is returned. BUT...for the summer, they have "Sora Sweet Reads" - a collection of 50 titles that are always available from now through August 17. The audience ranges from elementary through young adult, so there is something for everyone. Take a look at the full list here.

If you like the idea of digital books being available to multiple students at once, Sora also has a collection of over 500 titles (elementary through adult) that are always available all year long! For example, if you are reading Pride & Prejudice in your class and some of your students would benefit from an ebook or an audiobook - they can all borrow that title from Sora!

If you haven't introduced Sora to your students yet, now is the time! Right now, in the NH Schools Shared Digital Collection, there are over 6,000 ebooks and over 700 audiobooks. Give it a try!
