THIS WEEK IN DIGITAL LEARNING

Sharing Ideas, Thoughts & Feelings with Jamboard

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

It's not always easy to get every student involved in class discussions or to get feedback from every student. What if you provided a digital space for students to share their thoughts or ideas no matter where they are? Google Jamboard is a digital whiteboard program that allows students and teachers to collaborate in a space using a few simple tools such as drawing and sticky notes.

Some quick ideas:

  • A 4 corners exercise where you prompt them with an opinion and ask them to strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree.

  • An emotional check-in where you ask them how they are feeling today

  • A project tracker that they can continuously update with their progress

  • A brainstorming board where you give them time to post as many ideas as possible and then you organize them into favorites after

  • A study board where you ask them to post everything they know about a topic or unit, which you then review as a class and save for future studying

For example...(Go ahead...click on it and check it out. Use the Sticky Note tool on the left side of the screen to add your own name!)

How do I set one up?

Go to jamboard.google.com and click the + in the bottom right. The best way to make Jamboards work is to set a background image so students can post their sticky notes on it without messing up your design. I find the easiest way to do this is by creating a slide deck with all of your possible Jamboard templates. Then you can download each slide as an image as you need it.

Don't have the time or energy to create your own? That's what I'm here for! I created a few templates for you and would be happy to create more. Check them out here along with directions on how to use them!
