Using Your Voice with Mote

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

In today's educational world, we do a LOT of typing. Teachers type feedback on student projects, students type responses to questions.

Mote is a Chrome extension (and phone app) that allows you to record your voice within pretty much all of Google's apps. Let me provide you with some practical examples:

  • Speak your comments on a student's Google document rather than typing it - faster for you, easier to understand for the student

  • Have a student record an audio note on each slide of a slideshow giving a more detailed description

  • Asynchronous conversations in Google Classroom

  • Listening comprehension quizzes in Google Forms

  • Foreign language practice (ask the students to record themselves speaking the language)

If you'd like to test it out, first download the Mote extension and then take a look at this Google Document - you can see the Mote voice comment on the side. You have comment access, so go ahead and feel free to install the extension and try recording your own!
